Basic Event WiFi Kit

High-capacity connectivity for events up to 200 people

You need your own power

The dish draws 20-40W when running, and needs to be powered via a standard AC outlet or 12V car outlet. A portable power station or a vehicle inverter will run it; a USB power bank will not.

Set up before your guests arrive

Give yourself 20 minutes. The dish and the mesh points all want height and a clear line to the crowd, and that is much easier to find before there is a crowd standing in it.

Set up the dish

  1. Attach the power cable to the dish (use the AC brick + cable). Don't plug into power yet.
  2. Find a clear view of the sky. Avoid overhead trees, buildings, and obstructions, and aim for a ~100° cone of open sky.

Get it up off the ground

  1. Mount the dish on the tripod. Use the tripod with its mount whenever you can: keeping the dish up off the ground keeps it visible, so nobody trips over it or drives over it.
  2. The kickstand bracket is included for a quick low-profile setup: either way, feed the power cable through the mount.

Stand it on the kickstand

  1. Fold the kickstand out from the back of the dish until it clicks.
  2. Set it on any flat surface with a clear view of the sky. Quickest option, and the one to use if you are only stopping briefly.
  3. It sits low, so keep it off the ground where someone could step on it.

Mount on the vehicle

  1. Attach the mounting frame to the StarLink and use the suction or magnets to mount to your sunroof.
  2. If mounting on the outside of your car, run the power cable in through a door or window seal, not the tailgate.

Place the mesh points

  1. They are already paired. Plug each one in and it joins the same WiFiWithoutWalls network on its own. Nothing to press, no app.
  2. Keep each one within about 20 feet of the dish or of the mesh point before it. Each covers roughly 1,300 sq ft, a circle about 40 feet across, so they need to overlap rather than sit end to end.
  3. Get them up off the ground and out from behind vehicles, tents and walls. Height and a clear line matter more than distance.
  4. A solid light means it has power. Give it a minute to join.

Wake the dish

  1. Plug in your power source.
  2. A blue light on the back of the dish means it's getting power. Give it 1 to 2 minutes to wake up.

No app, nothing to prep

There's nothing to install or set up before your trip: no Starlink app, no downloads. Once you connect, the sign-in page at portal.wifiwithoutwalls.com gives you every tool you need: get online, watch your data, and diagnose obstructions or connection issues, right there.

Connect the system

Join network WiFiWithoutWalls
No password needed: open network
  1. Join WiFiWithoutWalls in your device's WiFi settings.
  2. The sign-in page opens automatically. Didn't open? Scan the code, or open a browser to portal.wifiwithoutwalls.com.
  3. Enter the last 4 digits of the phone number on your reservation and you're online.

Every device connects the same way: join the network, enter the 4-digit code. Share it with your group.

Pack down

  • Coil the cables and put them back in the outside zipper pocket of the backpack along with the charging plugs.
  • The Starlink Dish goes in the front square zipper pocket of the backpack.
  • Everything else goes in the main backpack pocket: tripod, tripod mount, kickstand, and car mount.
  • Unplug each mesh point and put it back in the backpack with its power adapter.
  • The prepaid return label is on the back of the outbound label. Once you put the backpack back in the shipping back, flip the label and drop off at a FedEx location or drop box.

Troubleshooting

Connected, but no internet?
  • Open the sign-in page's sky view to check for obstructions.
  • Reposition the dish for clearer sky.
  • Confirm the blue light on the back is lit, and check both ends of the power cable.
Dead spot at the edge of the crowd?
  • Move the nearest mesh point closer to the dish, not further into the dead spot. It has to hold its own connection back before it can share one.
  • Get it higher, and out from behind anything solid.
