You need your own power

The dish draws 20-40W once it is tracking, and needs a standard AC outlet. A portable power station or a vehicle inverter will run it; a USB power bank will not.

Set up the dish

  1. Attach the power cable to the dish (use the AC brick + cable). Don't plug into power yet.
  2. Find a clear view of the sky. Avoid overhead trees, buildings, and obstructions, and aim for a ~100° cone of open sky.

Get it up off the ground

  1. Mount the dish on the tripod. Use the tripod with its mount whenever you can: keeping the dish up off the ground keeps it visible, so nobody trips over it or drives over it.
  2. The kickstand bracket is included for a quick low-profile setup: either way, feed the power cable through the mount.

Mount on the vehicle

  1. Seat the mount on the roof rail or rack bar and tighten both clamps by hand.
  2. Run the power cable in through a door or window seal, not the tailgate.
  3. Take the dish down before you drive. The mount is for a parked vehicle.

Wake the dish

  1. Plug in your power source.
  2. A blue light on the back of the dish means it's getting power. Give it 1 to 2 minutes to wake up.

No app, nothing to prep

There's nothing to install or set up before your trip: no Starlink app, no downloads. Once you connect, the sign-in page at portal.wifiwithoutwalls.com gives you every tool you need: get online, watch your data, and diagnose obstructions or connection issues, right there.

Connect the system

No password needed: open network
  1. Join WiFiWithoutWalls in your device's WiFi settings.
  2. The sign-in page opens automatically. Didn't open? Scan the code, or open a browser to portal.wifiwithoutwalls.com.
  3. Enter the last 4 digits of the phone number on your reservation and you're online.

Every device connects the same way: join the network, enter the 4-digit code. Share it with your group.

Pack down

  • Coil the cable and put it back in the cable bag.
  • Everything else goes in the main case: the dish, tripod mount, kickstand, power brick, and the cable bag.
  • Collapse the tripod and slide it back into its cloth case.
  • Unclamp the mount and put both clamps in the mount's pouch.
  • The prepaid return label is in the box. Tape it over the outbound label and drop it at any UPS point.

Troubleshooting

  • Connected, but no internet?
  • Open the sign-in page's sky view to check for obstructions.
  • Reposition the dish for clearer sky.
  • Confirm the blue light on the back is lit, and check both ends of the power cable.
  • Network not showing up?
  • Wait 1 to 2 minutes, then power-cycle the dish.
