Death Valley is over three million acres with service clustered at Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells and effectively nothing else. Racetrack Playa, the Eureka Dunes, Titus Canyon, the backcountry roads: nothing.
Here connectivity is closer to a safety item than a convenience. It is remote, it is hot, and vehicle trouble on a backcountry road is a genuinely serious situation.
Sky and obstruction
What the dish will actually see here
As good as it gets. A basin floor with no trees, no buildings, and horizon in every direction is the textbook best case for satellite. The only obstruction worth thinking about is when you drive into a slot, Titus Canyon or the narrows, where walls close in hard and you should expect to lose most of the sky until you are back out.
Once you are set up, the captive portal on your router draws the real obstruction map from your own dish, so you can see exactly which part of the sky is blocked and move before it costs you a call.
How you get it
Shipped to you. The Starlink Mini kit ships anywhere in the country ahead of your dates. The portable power station and solar panel are local-delivery items in Colorado and cannot be shipped, so plan your own power for this trip.

- Starlink hardware has an operating range and can throttle in extreme heat. Shade the power supply where you can, and expect the same summer caution you would give any electronics in Death Valley.
