Olympic is really three environments: a rugged coast, a temperate rainforest, and an alpine interior, with almost no coverage across any of them once you leave 101. The Hoh, Quinault, and the coastal strip are all effectively dark.
It is a common long-weekend trip out of Seattle and Portland, and the one where trip planning most benefits from knowing the ferry and road situation before you commit.
Sky and obstruction
What the dish will actually see here
The most variable on this list. The Hoh and Quinault rainforests have enormous Sitka spruce and hemlock with heavy moss load, and that canopy is close to Smokies-bad, expect real obstruction under it and plan to move to a clearing or a river bar. The coast at Rialto or Kalaloch is superb, open ocean horizon and nothing in the way. Hurricane Ridge is likewise wide open. Pick your spot and this park swings from difficult to trivial.
Once you are set up, the captive portal on your router draws the real obstruction map from your own dish, so you can see exactly which part of the sky is blocked and move before it costs you a call.
How you get it
Shipped to you. The Starlink Mini kit ships anywhere in the country ahead of your dates. The portable power station and solar panel are local-delivery items in Colorado and cannot be shipped, so plan your own power for this trip.

- Will it work in the Hoh Rain Forest?
- Under closed canopy, poorly. Move to a river bar, a clearing, or the parking area for line of sight. On the coast and the ridges it works very well.
