Sky and obstruction
The Plateau is the theme. Up on top, at Prentice Cooper or out on the open bluffs, the sky is wide and a dish is easy. Down in the gorge and the creek gullies, you get the double hit this region is known for: steep sandstone walls on both sides plus dense Southern hardwood along the water, so a camp at the bottom can be substantially blocked. Get to a bluff edge, a clearing, or an open bar in the river and it opens right up.
