High desert at altitude, which is excellent. Juniper and pinyon are short and scattered rather than a canopy, the terrain is broad, and the sky is enormous. You lose view only in the steeper canyons and on the forested flanks of the Sandias and the Jemez, where ponderosa gets tall enough to matter.
Once you are set up, the captive portal on your router draws the real obstruction map from your own dish, so you can see exactly which part of the sky is blocked and move before it costs you a call.
