Sky and obstruction
Hill Country is the interesting case. It looks open, but the live oak and cedar cover is denser than people expect and the terrain rolls, so a venue tucked in a draw under oaks can lose meaningful sky in two ways at once. Ranch land on the open tops is easy. Head west toward the Trans-Pecos and Big Bend and it becomes some of the best satellite terrain in the country, flat, low scrub, unbroken horizon.
